Minister Mayowa Ope' Oluwa Lisa Reynolds

The name Mayowa Ope’ Oluwa is Yoruba for “She brings Joy, All Praises to God”.  It is the driving force for her energy and commitment to service and love. Mayowa is a native of Detroit and graduate of Detroit Public Schools. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Education with a minor in Humanities from Marygorve College.  She also received her Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove.  Mayowa received many awards including the Catherine Bicknell Fellowship to Benin, West Africa, Distinguished Student and Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities. Mayowa is currently at Ashland Theological Seminary pursuing a Masters of Divinity Degree with a concentration in Pastoral Counseling.

Khalid el-Hakim

Khalid el-Hakim is the Founder and President of the Institute of Black Culture.  A dynamic young educator with 10 years experience in Detroit Public Schools, he received his Bachelors of Science in Social Studies and Business Education at Ferris State University.  As a music exec he has managed various artists including 2006 Grammy award nominee Umar Bin Hassan, platinum award-winning artist Proof of D12, Taja Sevelle, and Versiz.  His passion for education and history led him to start collecting Black memorabilia 15 years ago.  Named The Bell Collection (after his family), this award winning collection of over 1500 artifacts date from slavery to hip hop culture.  The Bell Collection will be the featured collection in the Black History 101 Mobile Museum.

Guest appearances by The Four Tops, The Miracles, The Contours, The Original Vandellas, Pat Lewis, Carolyn Crawford and five time Grammy-winner Michael J. Powell give this album an authentic Motown feel that blends wonderfully with Parham’s smooth jazz stylings.
