The name Mayowa Ope’ Oluwa is Yoruba for “She brings
Joy, All Praises to God”. It is the driving force for her energy and commitment
to service and love. Mayowa is a native of Detroit and graduate of Detroit Public Schools. She received
her Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Education with a minor in Humanities from Marygorve College. She also received her Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove. Mayowa received many awards including the Catherine Bicknell Fellowship to Benin, West Africa, Distinguished Student and Who’s
Who Among American Colleges and Universities. Mayowa is currently at Ashland Theological Seminary
pursuing a Masters of Divinity Degree with a concentration in Pastoral
Counseling.
Rev. Reynolds is an active member of Fellowship Chapel where she serves as Associate Minister under the leadership
and direction of her Pastor, Reverend Wendell Anthony. She is a vacation bible
school teacher, liaison for Women’s Christian Fellowship, Christian Education and the “Intonjane” coming
into womanhood rites of passage program at Fellowship Chapel. She is a community
activist using the performing arts as a vehicle to promote awareness, unity, cultural pride, and personal excellence for the
youth of Detroit.
Mayowa is a dance teacher at the Detroit School of Arts where
she serves as the advisor for the National Honor Society and Band Auxilliary. She has been nominated several times for Who’s
Who of American Teachers. She is a member of Mack Alive community organization,
under the direction of Detroit Councilwoman Alberta Tinsley Talabi. Mayowa has won several awards for her outstanding choreography
and direction on behalf of Plowshares Theatre.
For Rev. Mayowa Lisa Reynolds life is ministry and is expressed through the mediums of dance, speaking, living, and
doing as a member of the body of Christ. Rev. Reynolds is a servant
leader in constant transformation towards the goals of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:4-9. Mayowa is the wife of Lumumba
Reynolds, and mother of four.
