Sandra Epps is founder
of Sandy’s Land a Publishing House and Children’s Entertainment Service where the mission is to empower young
people. An award-winning artist Epps has created various products and apparel with the signature theme of hope, love and faith.
Epps a survivor
of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), an autoimmune disease that causes the immune system to attack the body’s own
tissue and organs. This health challenge inspired her first children’s book entitled, Imani Has The Most Exciting Dream!“
self-published, this books aims to help children deal with a parent’s serious illness.
For more than three
years Epps has served as Associate Producer of “Wake Up Detroit!” a popular radio/television program on WHPR TV
33/88.1 FM. She’s a member of American Christian Writers/Detroit; Young Adults Re-Claiming Detroit (YARD), Committee
Member; Detroit Association of Women’s Club, Inc.; the National Council of Artists, and frequently exhibits her custom
designs and original textiles in Detroit-area galleries. She’s a board member of the Latreese Nicole Fagan Memorial
Scholarship Fund, Inc. (LNFMSF) an organization that gives scholarships to young adults diagnosed with lupus. Epps has been
featured in Heart & Soul Magazine, The Michigan Citizen, Detroit Free Press, African American Family Magazine, and K.E.Y.S. Kids TV Show. Epps has received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Southfield Lupus Support
Group - Lupus Alliance of America Michigan Indiana Affiliate, October 2007; the
Distinguished Service Award from Detroit City Council, June 2007; the Phenomenal Women’s Award from the Toledo City
Council, November 2003 and the Women of Action Award from the Million Man Alumni Detroit Chapter in May 2004.
A native Detroiter,
presently Epps works with Detroit City Council and holds a Bachelors degree in Fiber Arts from Wayne State University.
